Brian’s philosophy for performance centers around the idea that we are all performers in life. He has a holistic philosophy in performance training that looks at the individual as person first and a athlete/performer second. This looks at performance in a way that includes well-being and focuses on developing high performance with positive well-being. He uses a "build it" model as opposed to a "fix it" model. Traditionally sport psychology has been viewed as a "fix it" model. The athlete or coach comes seeking guidance only when there is a problem. Brian instead uses a strengths based, educational approach to his coaching. A key aspect of this is meeting people where they are and building from there. Brian's philosophy is that everyone can benefit from mental strength training regardless of ability or level of competition. He believes in the importance of proactively training the mind instead of waiting until their are challenges. Brian developed the Insideout Model of Performance Excellence that he uses to guide those he works with.
